AllCast App Comes to Amazon Fire TV

The Amazon Fire TV was released last week and reviews so far are very favorable. Amazon has even sold out of the unit although it’s not clear if that was high demand or low supply. Either way the device is a good competitor to all the other setup boxes. One nice advantage of the Fire TV is the ability to mirror and push content to your TV. Unfortunately, that only works with a Kindle Fire and Amazon cloud services until now. The popular Android developer, Koushik Dutta, has made his AllCast app available for the Fire TV.  So what can you do exactly with this app.

Installing the AllCast app on your Fire TV lets you play music, videos, and photos on your TV through your Android phone and tablet. That means you are no longer limited to just pushing content with a Kindle Fire tablet. That’s something that Amazon should have included but we’re glad for Android developers who are looking out for us consumers. You can also mirror your Android device on the TV as well. This will probably not work on all devices but should be fine for most newer devices. You’ll need to install the AllCast app on your Kindle Fire and also install the AllCast app on your phone or tablet. If you have a Fire TV, gives this a try to let us know how its working.
