TweetComb is a Twitter client app designed for Android Honeycomb tablets. There is a gap here to be field since Twitter has not optimized their app for the tablet and has chosen to simply port their phone app as have others in this market. I support all the app makers who take the time to design their applications for tablets and willing to pay if it’s designed well. So now on to the good stuff.
Connecting your account to TweetComb takes a bit more time then you would think but it’s not so bad. You have to go through your browser and authorize the program then your all set. They do have a warning that your date, time, timezone, and am/pm setting need to be correct for the authorization to work. I personally didn’t have any problems and got connected in no time.
TweetComb takes advantage of the tablet screen by setting up 3 scrolling vertical columns that can be customized to include categories of timeline, mentions, direct messages, favorites and my timeline. So on one screen you have all your twitter info without having to click-through anything. At the top you have a menu that allows you to access your profile, search, and lists. A great feature of the app is that browser connections are handled directly in the app through a pop-up window. You also have the choice of connecting to the full browser by clicking the view in browser button. I’m a big fan of applications that handle browser connections within the app so you don’t have to constantly go back and forth between programs. You can also setup multiple twitter accounts that you can easily switch from a simple drop-down menu. Overall this is a great app that is designed intuitively for the tablet and takes great advantage of the larger screen display.
