Rollout of Android 5 being put on hold due to wifi bug

Android Police report that the rollout of the Android 5 OTA update has been put on hold whilst a last minute bug is being dealt with. The bug, which affects power usage in Nexus 5 devices, came to light only recently and resulted in a dramatic battery drain for affected users.

It appears that Nexus users are seeing the Miscellaneous entry in their battery settings account for around 70% of their battery usage. This results in the devices battery draining much faster than normal, in some cases within a few hours. Clearly this isn’t something Google want people to have to deal with on day one of the Android release schedule, so the entire rollout has been suspended until it’s resolved.

It now looks like it will be November the 12th or later before we get our hands on the release version of Android 5.
