Yesterday at the Samsung Unpacked 2013 event there was a lot of news from Samsung. The flagship device being announced was the new Galaxy Note 3 but that was not all. There was also the companion Galaxy Gear watch and an updated Galaxy Note 10.1 edition as well. Today we’re going to cover the new Galaxy Note 10.1 and see what has been improved over the previous version.
Samsung has a lot of tablets on the market and not all of them are high quality and have the best hardware. This was definitely the case with the original Galaxy Note 10.1 which had a lot of potential but lacked in many cases. One of the biggest grip was the cheap plastic back that creaked and bent. Who wants to spend $500 on a device that feels that cheap. Also the screen resolution was not the best at the time either. Well it looks like for the 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1, Samsung finally has made a premium tablet and it’s well deserved.
The first and biggest improvement on the Note 10.1 is the high-resolution 2560×1600 Super Clear LCD screen. That’s definitely what you want for a high-end premium tablet. The back of the tablet has although been improved with a leather plastic that is stitched to the back. It’s not metal but definitely gives the tablet a higher premium feel than the previous creaky plastic.
Other hardware improvements are a 8-core Octa chipset at 1.9GHz with 3GB of RAM. The camera’s are an 8-megapixel on the back with a 2-megapixel on the front. Like all the newer Samsung devices you also get the central home button along with the soft back and menu keys. Like previous Note 10.1 it will come with the S-Pen for note taking. The software has overall been improved with many new editions which are the same as the new Note 3 phablet. You can get the tablet in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB but pricing has not been announced. It should be available in September worldwide and in U.S. by October although there are no specific dates.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 is a very powerful tablet with multi-tasking and note taking. It should have been the flagship Samsung tablet from the start but it has taken till the 2014 edition for it to arrive at this point. Better late than never as they say. If you are looking for a powerful and productive tablet then the Note 10.1 is the best. Let us know what you think in the comment section. Are you planning to buy one.
