Although there are a descent number of apps in the Amazon Appstore, they are still small compared to what’s available in the Google Play Store. Now you can Kindle Fire HD 7.3" href="http://androidcowboy.com/2013/04/root-kindle-fire-hd-7-3-0-firmware/">root your Kindle Fire HD and install the kindle-fire-hd/">Google Play Store but some people don’t want to mess with their device. In that case, you still have options as there are plenty of other appstores that you can use. Today, I’ve put together a quick video tutorial on how to install another appstore on your Kindle Fire HD device.
Although it’s pretty easy to install alternative appstores you have to be careful as there are a lot of malware apps. This shouldn’t completely scare you away but you need to be aware of the risks. Many of the apps in these stores are not regulated although that is the case for the Google Play Store as well. I would suggest sticking to main and popular apps. A good practice is to also check for the app in the web version of the Play Store and make sure everything matches.
I would also not download any paid app in the Play Store that is free on the alternative apps. There is some exception to this rule as GetJar does give away many paid apps for free. Also do no update any Amazon apps from the alternative appstore as you will lose the association with Amazon. If you want to turn off the appstore notifications then go into your setting in Applications then Notifications Settings. Below is the list of some of the better alternative appstores. Just visit them from your Kindle Fire and install the appstore. Good luck and be sure to comment if you have any questions.
Before downloading the apps make sure you go into your Kindle Fire settings and in Device setting turn on Allow Installation of Applications
