Google Nexus 10 Tablet Announcement Delayed

On Monday Google had scheduled an event in New York to discuss some of their new products. It was anticipated that they would be announcing a new Nexus phone made by LG and a new 10 inch tablet made by Samsung. The tablet is called the Nexus 10 and is all but confirmed through actual images of the device by various sites. A picture taken with the Nexus 10 has even showed up on Instagram. We didn’t have long to wait but unfortunately nature has intervened and the event has been cancelled due to the hurricane storm on the east coast. There is no date for the reschedule at the moment but I’m sure Google is anxious to reveal their new toys soon. But that doesn’t mean we don’t know much about the specs.

The nexus 10 will be packed with the new dual-core Exynos 5250 1.7 GHz processor based on an Cortex-A15 architecture. It will have 2GB ram, 16-32 GB storage, 5 mp camera, NFC, WiFi, and bluetooth. But the real surprise and delight is the high-resolution screen of 2560 x 1600 pixel with a 299 ppi. This will really be the first tablet to have a retina like display that will be able to compete with the iPad. So as Apple has decided to compete with Google and Amazon in the 7 inch tablet market, Google is now going to compete in the 10 inch tablet market.

I think this was inevitable for Google and a great move on their part. Now the real question will be the price of this new tablet. If they can be aggressive and price it low just like the Nexus 7 then they might have a real competitor on their hands. I would say that a price of $350-400 would make this a very attractive tablet for most consumers. It is also anticipated that Google will unveil a Nexus 7 with 32 GB storage at $250 and drop the price of the 16GB to $199. That means double the storage then the current pricing. So hopefully Google won’t take too long in rescheduling this event and letting us to get our hands on the Nexus 10.
