Back in August of this year Evernote, the popular note taking software, acquired Skitch but allowed its name and services to continue. In an effort to expand, Skitch was made available on Android devices. Skitch allows you to take any image from your device and annotate it with text, shapes, arrows and more. It’s tightly integrated with Evernote to allow saving to and from both programs. Even if you don’t use Evernote you can easily share to social sites or email it.
Skitch is an easy program to use and you can quickly dress up photos in no time. You begin by taking a picture from your mobile device camera or pick from you gallery. You also have the option of taking pictures from Evernote or any downloaded pictures. You can annotate pictures by drawing with the pen or highlighter using six different colors. Custom colors would be a nice addition and something that hopefully will be addressed in an update. There are tools to draw arrows and boxes in different sizes. You can add text in different colors and sizes with a high contrast that shows well in the picture. There is a lasso selection tool that you can use to move annotations around. If you make a mistake then it’s no problem because you can undo as many times or go completely back to the original picture. You also have the options of cropping or zooming your picture anytime. These are your main tool which can make some nice photos if you are creative. I’m not an artist or great at annotating but I was able to do the pictures here easily and fast. Have fun with your pictures and let us know how you like this app.
Download from the Android Market or Amazon Appstore.
