Horizon app kills the vertical video

The Horizon camera app has finally been released for us Android users. Horizon aims to solve that age old issue of recording vertical videos. Lets face it, if you grab your phone and starting recording some funny scene, it’s just plain easier, and more instinctive, to do it holding the phone vertically. I know I do. The issue then comes when you upload your videos or cast them to your telly and get drowned in black borders. Not any more.

Horizon gives you a horizontal recording even when you hold your phone vertically. If you rotate the phone, the recording keeps its aspect ratio. It does this using the gyroscope built in to most modern handsets. All you see is a small horizontal recording video over the top of your vertical display.

Horizon is available both on the Google Play store and the Amazon Kindle app store for around $0.99 through an in-app-purchase.
