Kindle Fire HDX Update

Kindle Fire HDX update

There is currently a Kindle Fire HDX update being rolled out by Amazon. It is not yet known what the update adds as it has not been officially announced with release notes. But most people don’t need to do anything as the update will roll out automatically. You can also download the update and upgrade manually if desired. But for those with a rooted Kindle Fire HDX the situation is more complicated.

Right now it is known that the update will break root and currently there is no method to root it again. Therefore, if you are rooted and want to continue having root access then you need to avoid the update. If you have Safestrap installed with the Xposed app then you should be okay. You can also manually block the update using this method. The last resort to block the update is to stay on airplane mode and keep the batter below 40% level. That’s not idea but it can get the job done.

I’m sure a new root method will become available but it could take some time. Therefore, I wouldn’t risk updating if you have root access already. I’ll updating my Kindle so I can help out to test root methods. You can also count on us to bring your root instructions for the update once it is discovered. If you have any questions then leave a comment below.

[info title=”Manual Upgrade”]Download the file corresponding to your device. Transfer to your Kindle Fire HDX. Go into setting, device, and upgrade.
