Just recently Amazon pushed out a minor update to the Kindle Fire HD 7 updating to 7.3.1 firmware. This update will be coming to your Kindle Fire devices soon if you haven’t already received it. If you happen to have rooted your Kindle Fire then you will lose root once it updates. But no big deal as you can easily root it again and should take no time.
I have been able confirm that you can root the Kindle Fire 7.3.1 firmware using the same previous method found Kindle Fire HD 7.3.0" href="http://androidcowboy.com/2013/04/root-kindle-fire-hd-7-3-0-firmware/">here. It took me only a couple of minutes and I was rooted once again. If you don’t want to go through the hassle of rooting future updates then you’ll need to either disable the OTA updates or protect root. Since most people want the latest updates then protecting root is a good method. Just go into your Superuser app and under the “i” tab check the ‘ota rootkeeper’ setting. This should protect root access and survive the OTA updates. That’s it and be sure to leave a comment if you have any questions.
