The old Android Market is the new Google Play but the apps remain the same. There are many fun and addictive games in Google Play and I’m always looking for things a bit different. I really enjoy games that are simple but with good graphics and simple controls. One game that really fits that criteria is the Edge app by Mobigames. The concept is to simply move a cube around in a defined area and reach the target. But along the way there are obstacles to avoid, other cubes to collect, and the edges to avoid. Simple and fun but addictive.
The original Edge comes with 48 levels along with 16 bonus levels to unlock. Each level is timed and to get the highest grade you’ll need to be fast and collect all the cubes. Controls are very simple using touch to move the cube or the gyro sensor. I found that touch control was by far the easiest to use and the gyro was just too difficult, specially when trying to avoid going over the edge. There are many types of obstacles along the way like collapsible bridges, bouncers, extenders, and enemies. The obstacles get more challenging and interesting as you move to higher levels. If you happen to finish all 48 levels and bonuses then you can move on to Edge Extended which brings 48 whole new levels. You can always go back and try to score the highest grade in each level which is S+ and very challenging. Overall a simple game that is executed well with good controls, graphics, and great game play on a tablet. Checkout Edge and Edge Extended and let us know what you think.
