Did you know that the default search engine used on the Kindle Fire is actually Bing? Maybe you’d like to use Google or even Yahoo. Unfortunately you can’t install or sideload the Google Search app on the Kindle Fire. That requires Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the Kindle Fire is only Android 4.04 Ice Cream Sandwich. Even the earlier version of Google Search requires root access and custom recovery. But you can easily change the default setting to use Google search or Yahoo and we’re gong to show you how.
First go into your setting by using the pull down menu at the top and going to the >More option. Then navigate to the >Applications setting and scroll down till you find the >Silk option.
Now touch the > Search engine option and choose your desired search engine as Bing, Google, or Yahoo. There you go, it was that easy.
While you’re at it I would recommend also to scroll down and under the Saved Data heading uncheck the >Display most recent page in Carousel which I find absolutely annoying. Now you have you desired search engine and you web history won’t show on the home carousel page anymore. Enjoy and be sure to comment with any questions.
