Install Google Nexus 5 Launcher on the Nexus 7 2013

We all love upgrades and can’t wait till we see it on our devices. That’s certainly true for the newest Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade for the Nexus 7 devices. I was very excited to get the upgrade on my Nexus 7 since I already had a taste of it on my Nexus 5. But I was bummed when I got the update and found that the launcher on the Nexus 5 isn’t part of the Nexus 7 update. Specifically I really wanted the transparent notifications and soft keys which looks much nicer and the swipe left Google Now. But luckily on the world of Android we can always find a solution. So I grabbed the apk from my Nexus 5 and slapped it on my Nexus 7. No problem and we’ll show you how to do it. We also have a video to preview it as well.

All you need to get the launcher is the latest Google Search app and the Home Launcher app. You search app should have automatically updated to version 3.1.8 but you’ll need to check in the app settings. If you didn’t get the update yet then either wait or install it manually with the apk link below. After that you only need to install the Launcher apk below and set it as the default. That’s it and you are good to go. Check out the video below to see what the new launcher looks like and enjoy.
