Amazon Announces 6th Generation Kindle Paperwhite

September has typically been the time that Amazon releases their new line of tablets and Kindle e-readers. Therefore it comes as no surprise that Amazon has announced their latest 6th generation Kindle Paperwhite. This is the dedicated Kindle e-reader that is optimized for reading books as opposed to the traditional Kindle Fire tablet. As expected, most aspects of the Paperwhite has been optimized from the hardware to the software. If you read lots of books then e-reader is what you want and the Paperwhite is one of the best.

As with most readers the Paperwhite display reads like a newspaper with no glare and can be read easily in direct sunlight. The new Paperwhite has an upgraded display with a higher contrast ratio with a 25% faster processor. There is a new Kindle page flip that let’s you skim page-by-page, scan by chapter, or skip to the end of your book. You can go back and forth as well without losing your spot in the book.

You have a smarter lookup with not only definitions but with X-ray technology that understands phrases rather than just words. There is in-line footnotes that let’s you read the full text of the footnote without losing your place in the page. Kindle has recently added MatchBook that let’s you buy Kindle editions of books that you have already bought in print for $2.99 or less. Now that’s a pretty good deal so you can add all your current and old books to your Kindle library.

Overall the Kindle Paperwhite is one of the best e-readers on the market. If you are an avid reader then this is what you want. The new Paperwhite can be pre-ordered now and ships September 30th. Let us know what you think about the new generation Paperwhite. Are you getting one.
