Today Amazon has been busy pushing a new update to its 2nd generation Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD devices. A major part of the upgrade revolved around the “X-Ray” technology which was introduced last year. The “X-Ray for Movies” lets you simply tap a character on the screen while watching movies which pops up information about them through IMDB. The upgrade today adds “X-Ray for TV” and “X-Ray for Textbooks”.
Now when watching TV shows you can also tap any characters to get their information from IMDB on the screen. The “X-Ray for Texbooks” let’s you easily look up important terms and concepts, with glossary definitions and links to relevant pages within books. The upgrade also includes improvements for print replica textbooks that will let you browse the textbook pages and chapters more easily. Another cool feature is “Time to Read” which will try to calculate how long it will take you to read the book based on your speed. All devices should get the update over the air and install automatically. Just make sure your batter is above 40% so you can get the download. Let us know what you think about the upgrades on the Kindle Fire devices.
