On your PC there are lots of good reasons to backup your data and this certainly extends to Android as well. Obviously all your apps will always be available through the Play Store but the accompanying data and setting are not. Data can is very important when it comes to games and even setting in apps can be annoying to remember. There are more than few apps in the Play Store that will backup apps and data but they require root access. Fortunately Khoush, maker of ClockworkMod recovery and ROM manger, has come to the rescue with his new Carbon which lets you backup app data without root.
If you have a rooted device then you can simply install Carbon and you are ready to go for backing up all your apps and data. If you do not have root access then you need to install the accompanying Carbon Desktop along with the app. Carbon has a nice user interface which is a nice change from the bland interface in Titanium Backup. You can backup and restore apps to SD Card, PC, and cloud storage as well. Another very cool feature is the ability to sync app data from one Android device to another. I can see this being very useful for syncing data for games that you would play on multiple device.
Carbon is a free app that is ad supported but it is limited. To get the full potential of the app you’ll have to go premium which removes ads and includes support for cloud syncing, scheduled backups and Android to Android sync. I think if you have yet to invest in a backup app then premium Carbon for $4.99 is well worth. On the other hand, users of Titnium Backup premium won’t be getting much more benefits except for the Android to Android sync. Regardless, Carbon is definitely looking to be a great app and will certainly be popular among the non-rooted users. Give the app a try and let us know what you think.
