NYTimes for Android: Updated with Tablet Support

It seems that lately many apps are being updated with tablet support. I’m sure this is in part due to Google since the introduction of the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 tablet. Finally, the NY Times decided to update their app with tablet support incorporating different layouts based on screen size. This is way overdue in my opinion but we’re glad that it’s finally done.

The app displayed extra columns if you are in landscape mode on a 10 inch device. The ad has been moved to the top of the app versus the bottom on the phone layout. There are now larger pictures displayed along with scaled typography. The sections can be quickly accessed from a drop-down menu on the top-left corner. You can also swipe left and right for next and previous article. Overall a better designed app but I still think there is much more they could have done. Let us know what you think about the new upgrade.
