The Washington Post has released a new app in the Google Play Store that is a bit unique. The apps flagship program is the The Fold which brings you the day’s news in short videos of five minutes or less. There are about four to five video segments each day and you can skip to any of them by using the menu. In the new internet age with a very short attention span this type of program and app really makes sense. It’s also great to get quality news from a source like the Washington Post. I really like this app and have been enjoying it since its release. The app is made for Google TV which is a rarity these days but it does work perfectly fine on a tablet. I have been enjoying it on my Note 10.1 since it’s release and have not found any issues.
The firs time you load the app there is a short video that talks about the app and how to navigate it. On the tablet you can simply touch the screen for the video controls or touch again to bring up the video segments. Swiping from the left reveals a vertical menu where you can access the search and options. In that menu you can also view videos for “News in 59 Seconds” and “Trail Mix”. I found that those videos are not updated as often and it’s really The Fold videos that drives the app. The Fold video are very behind the scenes taken right in the Washington Post newsroom. It gives the videos a gritty and raw feel that makes it real and entertaining. I have really enjoyed The Fold so far and watch it each night. Checkout out the app and let us know what you think about the app. Also be sure to comment and let us know what tablet you’re using for the PostTV
