Pinterest: Online Pinboard App Launched

Social media is still going strong and there are new sites and apps popping up everyday. One of those that is new but gaining lots of traction these days is Pinterest. The site lets you take pictures from the web and pin it on your own pinboard. Then you can follow other people’s pinboard and they can follow your as well. It can connect to Facebook or Twitter and easily add everyone that is already on Pinterest. Today the site released their first Android app and for a first release it’s a mighty nice app.

The first release of the Pinterest app has a simple and clean user interface with decent speed. If it’s your first time using Pinterest then it will guide you through an easy setup. At first you pick a few pictures that you like, connect to Facebook or Twitter, create you account, and you’re ready to go. Immediately you’ll see picture tiles based on the pictures that you initially chose and your friends on Facebook or Twitter.

Panning right takes you to the account info with stats for your followers and who you’re following. Panning all the way to the left lets you search or you can choose from one of the shown topics. You can add pictures easily from your gallery or camera. The app is very smooth with good speed for a first release app. I would highly recommend Facebook to use whoever designed the Pinterest app. Checkout Pinterest and let us know what you think. Will this be the new Facebook or just fade away.
