In the past year gaming has made significant progress on tablets. With the introduction of dual and quad-core processor along with GPU like Nvidia Tegra, gaming quality has vastly increased. We are now approaching near graphic quality of console games like the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. The gameplay still lags behind console games due to the lack of a controller for tablets but that will be solved very soon. Some of the most popular and best games on console games have been first person shooter (FPS) games and tablets are no exception. Recently a host of new FPS games have been released for Android tablets with exceptional graphics. In this post we’ll cover the top FPS games for your Android tablet.
1. N.O.V.A. 3 – Near Vanguard Orbit Alliance ($6.99)
Gameloft is one of the best developers of high-end games for Android phones and tablets with excellent FPS games. The sci-fi FPS game N.O.V.A. 3 has been highly anticipated since the release of N.O.V.A 2 last year. This game required 2 GB of space which is massive and the largest I have seen for a game. With that 2 GB you’re getting some of the best graphics on a game with real-time shadows, lights, and physics. The game takes places 4 months after N.O.V.A. 2 and continues the sci-fi story with the return of Kal to save earth. In N.O.V.A. 3 you get 10 levels of solo play along with 12-player battles in 6 maps. One new item in multiplayer mode is the ability for allies to be in the same vehicle. No matter if you play solo or with others there is lots of action to keep you occupied for hours. If I was going to pay for one game then N.O.V.A. 3 would be the one.

2. Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation ($6.99)
Gameloft has another hit on its hands with the sequel Modern Combat 3. This game has a more traditional war story taking place in the US cities like Los Angeles and abroad. You get to shoot, sniper, stab, kill, and wreak general havoc on anyone in your way. MC3 features different gameplay like escort, destroy, helicopter, 4×4 chase, and more. Similar to other Gameloft games there is a 13 mission solo campaign and multiplayer mode up to 12 players with 6 different maps. As expected MC3 has impressive graphics and with it a 1.37 GB download file. Free up space on that tablet and let’s go hunting bad guys.

3. Contract Killer (Free)
Ever think you had what it takes to be a sniping contract killer. Well guess no more as Glu Mobile give you the chance to test out your skills in Contract Killer. Accepts different missions then choose your gun and go kill. There are 17 story mission plus unlimited random missions. This is a freemium style game which means that you’ll need to get points and cash in order to buy new weapons and access new mission. You can always pay money to access some of content or just be a badass contract killer. Good graphics, plenty of action, and missions makes this a great game to play everyday.

4. iGun Zombie – Premium ($1.99)
Zombie’s are all the rage these days and for good reason since killing zombies is so much fun. iGun Zombie takes your zombie killing fantasies to a whole new level. This is a FPS game with the pure intent of killing as many zombies as possible. There is no story line here as it’s just you and a gun with hoards of zombies coming at you. So be fast, quick and I would recommend aiming at the head then kill, kill, and kill some more. There are 150 missions and 20 realistic shooting guns with upgrades and customization. So don’t wait any longer and go kill some zombies.

5. Brother in Arms 2 (Free)
This is another FPS game from Gameloft and is a traditional war game. The graphics are excellent and the controls are good. You can play single player mission or multiplayer with up to 5 players. The game takes place in WWII and the maps include Pacific, Normandy, North Africa, Germany and Sicily in 50 missions. The weapons are realistic and the action intense. But this game is a freemium which means that it’s free to play but you have to pay for upgrades. I usually don’t like this model but if you don’t want to pay $7 for a game and don’t play that much then this might be a better option. If you are good then you can make good progress but eventually you’ll hit a road block. Still a great game to play and I would highly recommend trying it.

Coming Soon: Dead Trigger (Update: Now in Google Play Store)
Madfinger Games, the creator of Shadowgun, have announced their new FPS game Dead Trigger. This a FPS game with the mission of killing zombies. The pictures and videos look amazing and based on their previous game Shadowgun I assume Dead Trigger to be the best FPS game on Android. The game is optimized for Nvidia Tegra chipset which is currently the best GPU on the market. This game should be coming out in the next month and will probably be priced in the $4.99 to $6.99 range.
