Ski Challenge 12: Play Virtual Ski Tournaments Against Other Players

There is nothing like hitting the slopes in winter for some great skiing or snowboarding. But if your busy like me then finding time can be very difficult. Now you can sit back and relax in a warm setting and go virtual skiing. Ski Challenge 12 brings you the most realistic skiing experience right on your tablet. First you’ll need to practice and master all the skills before joining a tournament. In Ski Challenge you have to first qualify with a set time before entering a tournament. Then you get to race against the best in the world for the fastest time.

Ski Challenge 12 brings one of the best ski racing experiences on a tablet. There is option for both touch control and tilt but I found tilt to give the best performance and fun. The tilt control is very smooth and gives you a real racing feel going into corners. What’s great is that you can adjust your ski for either speed or carve. This will become important when weather conditions are icy or snowy. Just for fun I adjust my ski all the way to speed which made me completely useless and unable to turn. I recommend for most cases to use a blend near 50/50 or slightly adjusted from there.

At first you’ll need to hit the training mode to learn how to control your ski and get the best time. One very cool feature is that once you set your first time then you can see your ghost the next time you hit the slopes. This is exactly like what you see on TV when they show the ghost of the best run against the current skier. The runs are also recorded so there is an options to replay which is a nice feature.

In Ski Challenge 12 the first slope is available but after that you’ll have to qualify. First you need to register because you’ll be playing against others and your time needs to be recorded online. Tournaments become available each week and first you’ll need to get a certain time in order to qualify. Then you can enter the tournament and post your best time till the tournament closes. The tracks that you can ski are Beaver Creek, Val’d Isere, Gröden, Bormio, Wengen and Kitzbühel. In each run you can’t crash or miss a gate otherwise you’re disqualified just like real skiing. Make sure you’ve trained well before hitting the tournaments because it’s no cake walk. So get out there on the virtual slopes and find out if you have what it takes to take home first prize.

Download for $2.13 from the Android Market.
