We live in a social world and the integration of social websites into our lives is increasing everyday. That could be bad or good depending on your view but it’s a trend unlikely to change. If you love social integration then that’s great news and now there is way to combine sports and twitter.
SportCaster is an app that allows you to not only follow your game with the scoreboard but also news and opinions from twitter by analyst, media, players, and bloggers. Instead of searching twitter, SportCaster does all the work for you and displays twitter feeds on individual games, teams, and players. There are several options and filters that you can use to customize the experience. In the “conversation” tab you can choose feeds on the sport, individual team, or individual players. Following live games you can filter by analyst, fans, and players. You don’t need a twitter account to follow any of the feeds but having one allows you to reply and retweet. A great way to enhance your sports watching experience by making you an active participant.
Currently SportCaster supports pro and college football, pro hockey, and postseason baseball. Basketball, soccer and auto racing are promised in future updates. You can also access scores, schedules, and standings on any of the sports. The scoreboard and box score are not the best but the focus of the app is on the social aspect. But I think this could significantly enhance the appeal of the app and make it your only sports app. Checkout SportCaster and let us know what you think.
You can download the app from the Android Market and Amazon Appstore.
This app is not compatible with the Kindle Fire.
