Plume for Twitter: A Highly Customizable Twitter Client

I use Twitter on a daily basis for my blog, work, and personal use to connect with people and friends. I have multiple accounts to follow and manage so I’m always looking for good apps. I specially enjoy using Twitter apps on my tablet because the larger screen size allows me to take in more information at one time. Today I will take a look at Plume, formerly known as Touiteur, which is a highly customizable Twitter client app.

Plume is a very customizable and flexible Twitter client app with support for multiple accounts. The main screen has three columns that you can populate each with timeline, mentions, direct messages, and favorites. The look and feel of the app can be changed by adjusting many features like font size, background colors, colored links, and much more. Some of those options are useful but a lot of them are not necessary and a distraction but at least you have the option. But what I really like about this app is that you can perform just about all the functions that you need straight from the app.

Plume provides built-in browser for viewing links which I found to work very smooth and fast. It supports services for URL shortening with a Bit.ly or Goo.gl account and photo services from Plixi, Twitpic, YFrog, Posterous, MobyPictures, and TwitGoo. You can checkout trending topics and mute text, user, or app. You can view your profile tweets, friends, follower, and retweets. You can also update your bio and pictures which I have not found on many Twitter apps. The app provides a great widget in 4×1 to 4×6 size that is very useful on a tablet. Not only can you view your tweet, mentions, and direct messages but even reply and compose new tweets straight from the widget. Overall, I found Plume for Twitter to be a highly functional and customizable app and probably one of the best Twitter clients for tablets. Let us know what you think.

You can download the app from the Android Market.
